The Industrial Storm Water General Permit (IGP) re-certification deadline is July 1 for the nearly 20,000 covered industries in California. So what if your facility misses the July 1 deadline for uploading your SWPPP (Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan) and facility map? You still will have an opportunity to upload these documents but be aware that your business may receive a notice of non-compliance from the Water Board (the regulatory agency).
If your facility met the compliance deadline, it is time to start planning for training and prepare for the new season so you keep in compliance. Your business could consider joining with similar facilities and forming a compliance group which provides some advantages such as reduced monitoring but also includes additional responsibilities under the permit. Alta’s Director of Water Resources has the certification necessary to lead an industry compliance group and train our clients to finalize their QISP certification as required by the permit. Only a Trainer of Record is permitted by the permit to do so and Alta is pleased to announce that we have one of the State’s first certified Qualified Industrial Stormwater Practitioner Industrial Trainer of Record, QISP-ToR. In June 2015, David Renfrew was one of the first class of certified ToRs by the CA Stormwater Quality Association (CASQA) and the State of California. Congratulations, David! To find out more about your options and next steps to stay in compliance, contact our Director of Water Resources, David Renfrew at (david.renfrew@altaenviron.com), or call us at (562) 495-5777.
