Our Building Science Team has 2 openings for Industrial Hygienists. The team works in service of our existing and rapidly growing client base in multiple sectors; including healthcare, biotech, schools and universities, industries, development (real estate and construction), and municipalities. The Building Science team specializes in the investigation of buildings prior to renovation or demolition to identify hazardous waste and risks including asbestos, lead based paint and other hazards. Both positions are located in Long Beach. The positions are Industrial Hygiene Technician with 3-5 years’ experience and Industrial Hygienist with 5-10 years’ experience to join our team of Building Science experts. Our Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) team has one opening for an Associate Consultant. This team also serves multiple sectors including industrial clients, ports, and municipalities. Much of this team’s work is acting as an extension of staff to provide permitting, regulatory and compliance support in response to federal, state and local regulations. The team interacts with such regulatory agencies as DTSC, AQMD (including South Coast), and the local CUPA. All three position requirements are described below: Industrial Hygiene Technician/Associate Alta is growing the Building Science Team with the addition of an Industrial Hygiene Technician/Associate. The ideal candidate will work on various building related hazardous materials projects (lead, asbestos and mold) projects autonomously and under supervision of a Senior Consultant. The candidate must possess a thorough working knowledge of building related hazardous materials identification, control/abatement and remediation oversight. Key Responsibilities will include conducting building related hazardous materials surveys, conducting scope of work develop and remediation monitoring and oversight in accordance with Cal-OSHA, CDPH, SCAQMD/CARB, DTSC and EPA requirements. Preferred candidates will have AA or BA/BS degree in environmental science, construction management, engineering or industrial hygiene with 3-5 years of experience. Industrial Hygienist/Sr. Associate Alta is growing the Building Science Team with the addition of an Industrial Hygienist/Sr. Associate. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of industrial hygiene practices including conducting workplace health and safety investigations for physical and chemical hazards. The candidate must be able to design and conduct industrial hygiene sampling. In addition to conducting industrial hygiene investigations, the ideal candidate will have documented experience in completing indoor air quality investigations in commercial, industrial, educational and health care settings. The ideal candidate will also work on various building related hazardous materials projects (lead, asbestos and mold) projects autonomously and under supervision of a Senior Consultant. The candidate must possess a thorough working knowledge of building related hazardous materials identification, control/abatement and remediation oversight. Key Responsibilities will include conducting industrial hygiene investigations, developing appropriate and assisting with implementing recommendations. building related hazardous materials surveys, conducting scope of work develop and remediation monitoring and oversight in accordance with Cal-OSHA, CDPH, SCAQMD/CARB, DTSC and EPA requirements. Preferred candidates will have BS degree in environmental science, engineering or industrial hygiene with 5-10 years of experience. The ideal candidate will work on various Environmental Health & Safety compliance projects autonomously and under supervision of a Senior Consultant. The candidate must be willing to develop a thorough working knowledge of multimedia Environmental, Health and Safety compliance. Key Responsibilities will include California regulatory compliance audits, AQMD/CARB Regulatory Support, Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) reporting, Hazardous Materials Business Plan (HMBP) & California Environmental Reporting System, Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans, Industrial Hygiene assessments, Health & Safety policies, Hazardous waste minimization, and Provide training for the management of hazardous waste and materials. Preferred candidates will have BS or MS degree in environmental science, engineering, industrial hygiene or geologic sciences, 3-5 years of experience and OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification preferred.
