On September 13, 2013 the California Air Resources Board (CARB) received their waiver from the U.S. EPA for the In-Use Off-Road Diesel Program (click here for link). This waiver was necessary for the complete implementation of the regulation and comes after years of anticipation.
The Regulatory Advisory from CARB provides some critical dates which they are using to phase in the rule requirements. Currently two critical deadlines are:
Fleets should review their inventory to be sure all equipment, especially those with Tier 0 and Tier 1 engines, are added to their DOORS account. Additionally, Large Fleets (fleets over 5000 HP) should once again review their target emissions rates, fleet average, and credit for compliance.
The U.S. EPA comment period for the waiver is open until November 13th.
