David Renfrew achieves Qualified Industrial Stormwater Practioner status and is also an Industrial General Permit Trainer of Record
David Renfrew, Director of Water Resources for Alta Environmental achieves Qualified Industrial Stormwater Practioner (QISP) status and is also an Industrial General Permit (IGP) Trainer of Record (ToR). The program is administered by the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) in concert with the California Stormwater Quality Association (CASQA). Mr. Renfrew was one of 112 qualified individuals certified as IGP ToRs and QISPs in the first round of approvals by the State. QISPs are required for facilities that must prepare ERA Level I or Level II reports. Additionally, new dischargers applying for Notice of Intent (NOI) for Permit coverage that discharge to a 303(d) listed water body will require the services of QISP to certify they do not contribute pollutants of concern to the listed water body. ToRs also can perform the functions of a Compliance Group Leader for a given industry sector. Mr. Renfrew is able to provide QISP services immediately and will be offering QISP certification classes in the near future as the SWRCB’s QISP training program is developed. People interested in becoming a QISP will be required to take two full days of online training, pass an online exam, and take a full day orientation class provided by a QISP ToR to demonstrate proficiency in the program.
More information can be found in the near future on the SWRCB’s website at http://www.swrcb.ca.gov/water_issues/programs/stormwater/qisp.shtml and at CASQA’s QISP website at: https://www.casqa.org/resources/qisp.
