QISP
Meet our GIS guru and newest QISP!

By Nicole Apel

Mallory Graves is a GIS Associate II at Alta Environmental, where she provides GIS analysis, modeling, cartography, web application development, and data management solutions. She has eight years of experience in GIS for higher education and local/regional government clients and environmental planning and compliance programs. She passed the Qualified Industrial Stormwater Practitioner (QISP) final exam in March and became Alta’s newest QISP. Mallory is a member of the SoCal Urban and Regional Information Systems (URISA) GIS professional user group and is currently preparing for her GIS Professional (GISP) certification.

Her experience includes GIS training and program development, GIS implementation and planning, and workflow design. Mallory has provided GIS project support in water resources management, air quality modeling, field data collection, Web GIS services and site characterization of industrial and municipal properties. Additionally, she has led long-term planning projects using GIS for transportation planning, drainage infrastructure, and proposed developments for industrial and municipal clients.  Mallory has worked closely with regulatory agencies, non-profit organizations, and stakeholders in Superfund site remediation and land use planning.

Mallory earned an M.S. in Geographic Information Science & Technology from the University of Southern California (USC) in 2015. She also holds bachelor’s degree in English from Mount St. Mary’s University, Los Angeles.

On a personal note, she enjoys playing music, biking and taking long naps with her cat Pantera.
