January 1st, 2023 is the official deadlines set by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) for all diesel trucks and buses with a gross vehicle weight rating that is 14,001+ lbs. to reduce exhaust emissions by meeting particulate matter (PM) filter requirements and upgrading to 2010 model year (MY) or newer engines. Essentially, if you don’t have a 2010 or new engine installed on all of your heavy-duty vehicles by January 1st, 2023 you could get fined up to $1,000 per day of operation per vehicle not in compliance. Here is the bottom line: it is likely that any fleet owner who submits grant applications for engine retrofits or particulate filters before 2018 will receive money, if you submit before 2019 your odds of winning decrease by almost half, and if you submit between 2020-2022 your odds of winning are about the same as winning the powerball… (significantly decreased).
Alta has a history of successful grant applications on behalf of fleet owners and operators. We have successfully won over $100 million in grants for our clients. If you are a large fleet owner and are interested in the upcoming Carl Moyer, MSRC, or DERA grants which will be released between February through May of 2017 please contact us at 562-497-5777.
